Against a boss that forces constant movement, a minion command aimed at empty ground contributes nothing, regardless of its damage tooltip. That is the pressure test for Xipocado's Soul Core of Dominion in PoE 2: can your commands connect often enough to justify the socket Before committing Path of Exile 2 Currency to this upgrade, examine your damage during those awkward moments between dodges, target movement, and minion repositioning. A stationary damage comparison is useful, but it should not make the decision alone. Start with the encounter where your summoner actually struggles, not the one your current equipment already handles comfortably.
The 40% Modifier Has a Narrow Job
Xipocado's Soul Core of Dominion requires level 50 and grants minions 40% increased Damage with Command Skills when socketed into a Wand, Staff, or Sceptre. Its wording targets command damage, not every attack your army performs. It is also limited to one, so planning around multiple copies is not an option. Check the command attached to your chosen minion before spending anything. The relevant question is not simply whether you press a command button; it is whether the damage affected by that command represents a meaningful share of your output. Treat ordinary attacks as a separate contribution when evaluating the socket.
Measure Connections, Not Button Presses
Command uptime is the first metric worth tracking. For testing, define it as the portion of available offensive opportunities in which your commanded attack actually reaches its target. Record missed placements, delayed responses, and commands issued immediately before the boss moves. Those observations tell you whether more damage addresses your problem. Against fast, frequently repositioning enemies, aim for a recovery animation rather than pressing the command the instant it becomes available. Against groups approaching from several directions, check whether concentrating damage on one location leaves dangerous enemies untouched. This core deserves consideration when commands connect reliably; it deserves skepticism when your rotation repeatedly spends its strongest attacks on empty space.
Separate Command Damage From Total DPS
The second metric is command damage share. Consider a hypothetical setup where qualifying commands provide half your damage and the rest comes from unaffected attacks. If testing shows those commands dealing 10% more damage after the socket change, the expected total gain is approximately 5%, assuming everything else stays constant. That example is arithmetic, not a promised result for this item. Run several comparable encounters with the same minion levels, supports, enemy modifiers, and opening sequence. Compare typical completion times rather than selecting your fastest attempt. Avoid destroying a valuable existing socket just to establish a baseline; record that baseline first, then test when you are ready to commit.
Keep your existing weapon priorities intact. Do not replace a well-suited loadout merely because another base accommodates this core, and do not confuse a cleaner damage tooltip with a cleaner fight. Players who enjoy deliberate command timing should evaluate it after resolving missed attacks and frequent minion losses. Players who prefer letting their army attack independently should demand clear evidence before paying for such a specialized modifier. If you are comparing equipment costs or considering whether to buy POE 2 Divine Orbs, establish the upgrade's measured value first. In PoE 2, this socket earns its place through repeatable command damage, not the percentage printed on the item. |
