The October 11 update gives you two clear priorities: George Springer for the lineup and Andy Pettitte for the rotation. If you're weighing where your MLB 26 stubs should go, those S tier cards deserve attention before another marginal upgrade. Springer's maxed contact and big power make him the offensive standout, even with ordinary speed and defense. Pettitte earns his place differently. His sinker, cutter, circle change, and 12 to 6 curve offer enough variety to keep hitters guessing. More importantly, his control lets you work the edges instead of hoping a pitch stays out of trouble.

    Leave room for flexibility

Enrique Hernandez might solve more lineup problems than a specialist with louder hitting numbers. He covers nearly every position except catcher, brings strong vision and fielding, and has a swing that makes his A tier placement feel useful rather than generous. Start him or keep him ready for substitutions. Ivan Rodriguez offers a different kind of security behind the plate. His 95 pop time and defensive ratings, which reach their ceiling with parallels, support an A tier grade. The contact, vision, and clutch help, too. His right handed swing is what keeps him below the very top group here.

    Pick your infield compromise

Joe Morgan is the most appealing middle infield addition if you value contact, vision, and speed. Keep him at second base, where his fielding matters without asking too much of his arm. That's an A tier fit. Manny Machado lands in B tier despite the glove; limited speed and modest offense make him harder to justify. Ryan Vilade sits there as well across first, second, and third. Against right handed pitching, his contact creates a concern that his defense doesn't erase.

    Outfield roles matter

Springer isn't the only outfielder worth a look. Michael Harris II offers A tier value through speed, defense, and power that's close to its ceiling. Garrett Mitchell also belongs in A tier, though his appeal is more specific. Perfect speed and fielding make him a strong center field choice when protecting a lead. His average hitting means you shouldn't expect the same offensive return. Think about the job you need filled before choosing between them.

    Springer supplies offense.
    Harris contributes on both sides.
    Mitchell covers ground late.

    Spend carefully on pitching depth

Gerrit Cole gives the rotation an A tier option with five pitches and strong numbers against left handed hitters. Michael King also has five offerings, but less reliable control leaves him in B tier. The relief additions look less urgent: Ray Kerr's slurve and 12 to 6 curve can become predictable, while Bryan Baker's three pitch selection limits his options. When comparing cards through the MLB The Show 26 marketplace, focus on a weakness you'll actually notice during games. Another usable reserve won't necessarily help as much as a starter you trust.
